Rabat Malta to Rabat Gozo Vintage Motors Festival
THE FMVA - RABAT TO RABAT -VINTAGE MOTORS FESTIVAL 2013
The FMVA will be organizing a two-stage event consisting of a time regularity run in Malta and Gozo and three rotating static shows in Gozo. All FMVA constituent member clubs are cordially invited to take part. This event will be the 5th of its kind and is being supported by the Ministry for Gozo and participating Local Councils.
1. The event will be known as The FMVA- Rabat to Rabat Vintage Motors Festival 2013. The regularity run route will be run on good surfaced roads both in Malta and Gozo in a bid to encourage older vehicle use.
2. The event is due to be held on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of January 2013.
3. All those members interested in participating in either the run or the show are to indicate their intention to do so to their respective club’s committee by not later than Thursday the 1st of November. A drivers briefing will be held on Wednesday the 16th of January at the OMC clubrooms in Lija at 7.30pm where all entries will be collected and competition numbers assigned. No late entries after this date will be considered. The entry fee per vehicle for the regularity run will be of €15 for members and €25 for non-members. Participants using pre 1940 vehicles (cars or motorcycles) will be getting a percentage reduction on their accumulated penalty points. Participation in the static shows will be free of charge.
4. On Saturday the 19th of January, all participants are to assemble at the carpark opposite the Domus Romana in Rabat at 2.00pm sharp. The first vehicle will leave the start at 2.31pm. There will be a half-way halt at Wied Iz-Zurrieq and the finish will be in Mellieha at about 4.00pm. Competitors will be expected to stay at the finish in Mellieha till all vehicles have been clocked in.
5. On Sunday the 20th of January all participants are to be at Ghajnsielem by 9.00am sharp. The first vehicle on the Regularity Run will leave the start at 10.01am, the half way break will be located at Dwejra whilst the finish will be situated in the Rabat (Gozo) car park. The first vehicle is due in at about 12.00 noon.
6. Show participants will be directed from Ghajnsielem to their respective show location at Nadur, Victoria or Qala. Static show participants must rotate from one venue to another after a circa two-hour display. Each exhibitor will receive a participation memento. Members are encouraged to exhibit the oldest vehicles in their collections. The static show is open to vehicles 25 years and older whilst for the Rally to all pre-1977 vehicles
7. Once all Regularity Run competitors have reached the Finish, in Rabat (Gozo) they will proceed in convoy to Nadur where they will join other members for a static show till results are announced, about an hour later and the official presentation ceremony takes place.
8. Competitors leaving Rabat or Nadur early will incur penalty points or forfeit their free ferry ticket. This ticket will be valid for two calendar days hence participants can opt for an overnight stay. Favourable hotel rates are being negotiated for those interested in an overnight stay.
