New Classic Black Plates launched
The first set of new black plates for classic vehicles was issued this morning by Transport Malta. These will replace the green plates that had proved unpopular with classic vehicle owners. the vast majority of club members within the FMVA, had voted to introduce the black plates and ditch the green ones, during a meeting held last year at the Old Motors Club in Mosta.The new black plates are more expensive to produce than other colours, hence they cost 70 Euros per pair for newly-registered classic cars and 35 Euros for motorcycles.
UPDATE:
After talks with Hon. Joe Mizzi, Minister of Transport, it was agreed that those persons already in possession of green plates will only pay the difference in price when changing to black plates. Therefore, the prices are 35 Euros for a pair of plates and 17.50 Euros for motorcycles.
